It may come as no surprise that Harry Potter could be considered a Jesus Figure. Look no further than to his given title of 'the Chosen One,' that he received at only one years old.

His title proves true when he becomes the leader in the battle against evil.

Luke Bell writes, "Harry is their inspiration" and he then goes on to quote remus Lupin in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows where Lupin says Harry is "a symbol of everything for which we are fighting: the triumph of good, the power of innocence, the need to keep resisting" (Bell, 39).

Does that not sound familiar?

An image of Harry in such a light tends to mirror an image of Jesus Christ who was chosen at birth as well to be a leader and saviour of his people. Jesus and Harry alike were symbols to not only those close to them, but to all their people. They each symbolized hope in all that is good.

The similarities only continue and can particulrly be seen in the last book of the series.

Harry Potter like Jesus Christ is willing to die in order to save others.

Then Harry too in his own way is resurrected and he comes back to continue on his legacy of being the symbol of hope and good.
