When asking any Potter fan who the hero of the series is almost anyone would automatically name Harry, but if you asked certain members of the Christian community, Harry as the Devil might be the more common response.

 

For many Christians the character of Harry Potter is a character to be feared and a character that should be kept at a distance, especially from children. For them, the teachings and antics that take up the series are ones that encourage anti-Christian values such as magic, breaking the rules, and the glorification of evil. To them, the young wizard from the cupboard under the stairs is not someone to be admired, but someone to avoid. In essence, Harry Potter and his world of magic should be kept away from any good Christian child.

 

In response to these accusations let us look at the character Harry Potter and see for ourselves if Harry Potter, boy wizard, is in fact the hero Rowling wrote him to be or the devil that many Christians believe him to be?
